City of Fort Worth Integrated Program Management (IPM) for the Delivery of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP)
Committed to improving the delivery of its capital improvement projects, on time and within or under budget, the City of Fort Worth contracted with the engineering consulting firm of CH2M Hill to develop and implement an Integrated Program Management system designed especially for Fort Worth. This plan implemented a new way for Fort Worth's project managers to communicate and work with internal staff, consultant teams, executive staff, Mayor and Council, and the community.
CH2M turned to outreach expert Ware & Associates, Inc. to develop and implement a public communications strategy to ensure that internal and external communications flowed among the IPM engaged departments and the many audiences they each communicate with.
Ware worked with the City’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) and departmental communications specialists to explore the status of each department’s communications plan and the collateral materials used. Working with communicators, Ware developed templates covering a range of communications needs for use by the department communicators. In addition, Ware: 1. Sought opportunities to share the ‘good news’ about Fort Worth’s leadership role in planning, designing and constructing capital infrastructure in the public sector in regional and national publications. 2. Assisted in the development of a public-use dashboard for tracking project status
3. Edited and produced a newsletter in support of the project objectives that received an international award of distinction and excellence in two categories in two consecutively years, respectively.
