Texas Health Resources

Like many large corporations, Texas Health Resources (THR) saw the need to increase cultural diversity within their organization and asked Ware & Associates to assist with recruitment.  THR also asked the agency to create a Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprise/Historically Underutilized Business (MWBE/HUB) Program to increase vendor and contractor inclusion as well.  Ware developed and implemented a Program in 1996 when spending with MWBE/HUB contractors and vendors was less than $50,000.  The implemented customized program increased spending with those businesses to more than $17 million over the four-year period it was managed by Ware.  During the fifth year, Ware trained THR internal staff to take over the program and turned the program over to them.  THR has continued the practice of cultural diversity throughout its operations and the inclusion of diverse businesses in its purchasing process.

JPS Health Network

Ware & Associates assisted Thos. S. Byrne, Inc. with efforts to encourage minority and woman-owned businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to participate with contractors for the construction of JPS’ campus facilities for Public Health and Women’s Health Center.  Ware facilitated outreach among certified M/WBE firms and general, certified minority and woman contactors.

Texas Anti-Tobacco Initiative

Ware & Associates developed a grassroots awareness and media campaign to facilitate enforcement of Texas’ Tobacco Law.  The campaign included promoting restrictions on retail tobacco sales to minors, enforcing clean air ordinances, and increasing referrals to awareness classes for minors who violated Texas’ Tobacco Law.  The agency-developed program targeted adults and teenagers, with a focus on minority teens in Houston, Beaumont, Port Arthur and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  As a result of the campaign, tobacco use by teens in Port Arthur and Beaumont was reduced over 40%.

JPS Health Network

JPS Health Network contracted with Ware & Associates to review its HUB and MWBE Plan and Procedure currently in use at the time and determine if met or exceeded industry best practices.  Ware reviewed records in the following departments: Human Resources, Purchasing & Logistics, Professional Services, and Real Estate Management.  After a review of each existing plan and interviews with the targeted department heads, Ware & Associates, Inc. provided recommendations to achieve industry best practices in each department.

MedStar Membership

Ware & Associates developed and implemented a strategic public awareness campaign for MedStar, the area ambulance service provider for Fort Worth and thirteen area cities, to coincide with their membership drive.  The objective of the drive was to promote MedStar’s services to residents living within the service-area with a goal to positively promote MedStar within the communities it served.  Increased community awareness served to enhance MedStar’s service-area image and ultimately led to an increase in memberships.
